Cool Sculptor is based on cryolipolysis, which is a combination of two terms: "cryo" (icy cold) and "lipolysis" (the chemical decomposition of fat). In carefully controlled conditions, subcutaneous fat cells are more defenceless than other adjoining tissues to the impact of cold. Cool Sculptor selectively aims at localized fat deposits including love handles, abdominal fat, muffin-tops, back rolls and bulges above Caesarean incision lines and condenses them by chilling them to just above freezing. Once crystallized, the fat cells perish and are naturally removed from the human body. The process is done progressively without causing any harm to the adjoining tissues.
The procedure is normally conducted by a plastic surgeon or dermatologist and takes about one to three hours. The doctor then employs a hand-held vacuum applicator to smoothly remove the excess skin.
